Gigi Niekrash

K-12 Tutor

With 13 years of teaching experience, Gigi is dedicated to fostering a love for learning from kindergarten through 12th grade. Her goal is to help all students reach their full potential, whether it's mastering reading skills or excelling in advanced subjects. Gigi is committed to providing personalized support to meet the unique needs of every student, ensuring their success in academics and beyond.

Gigi grew up in Madison, Connecticut, played Division I field hockey at the University of Maine and then furthered her academic pursuits, obtaining her teaching certification and a master’s degree at Southern Connecticut State University.

She taught economics and U.S. history at Middletown High School in Middletown, CT, taught 5th grade history at Achievement First in Bridgeport, CT. Then taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade for over ten years at Carlthorp School in Santa Monica, California. Gigi later taught 4th grade math at Charleston Day School in Charleston, South Carolina and kindergarten at The Country School in Madison, Connecticut.

With extensive experience nurturing students’ writing, math, reading, and executive functioning skills, Gigi excels in tailoring lessons to meet each student’s unique needs, leveraging her background in private school education. She recognizes the significance of fostering connections with students, believing that building trust is a vital component of encouraging them to take risks in their learning journey.

Gigi has a diverse tutoring background, spanning from assisting kindergarteners in developing reading skills to guiding eighth graders through the boarding school application process. Her expertise also extends to aiding 5th graders in preparing for writing and math assessments to secure entry into secondary school, as well as providing general homework support.
